A roll-off dumpster makes cleanouts and renovations dramatically easier — but a few materials are off-limits for safety and disposal reasons. Knowing the rules before you start saves you from delays, extra fees, and having to fish something back out. Here's the simple breakdown.
What You CAN Toss
The good news: the vast majority of what you're clearing out is perfectly fine.
Household junk, furniture, and general clutter
Renovation and construction debris
drywall, wood, flooring, cabinets
Roofing shingles and siding
Yard waste, branches, and landscaping debris
Non-hazardous demolition material like brick and concrete (watch the weight)
What You CAN'T Put in a Dumpster
These items are prohibited by disposal regulations and can't go in the container:
Hazardous materials, chemicals, and solvents
Wet paint, oils, and fuels
Tires, batteries, and propane tanks
Appliances containing refrigerant (fridges, freezers, AC units)
Asbestos and medical waste
Why the rules? These materials require specialized handling and can't legally go to a standard landfill. Keeping them out protects you, our crew, and the environment — and keeps your job moving.
Items That Need Special Handling
A few things aren't strictly banned but are handled differently — like certain electronics, mattresses, and appliances. If you've got any of these, just mention them when you book and we'll tell you exactly how to handle them.
When in Doubt, Just Ask
If you're staring at something and not sure whether it can go in, don't guess — just ask us. A quick question up front beats a problem at pickup.
